Goals
Horizontal
To facilitate the development of technology and standards for wireless ad hoc networks.

Technical Approach
Horizontal
  • Develop metrics and measure performance of various MANET protocols proposed to IETF thereby facilitating the IETF standardization process.
  • Study feasibility of MANETs for NS/EP scenarios.

  • Develop simulation models of popular MANET protocols.

  • Study collaborative signal processing and communication and networking aspects of smart sensor networks.
FY02 Plans
Horizontal
  • Analyze performance of wireless ad hoc networks.

  • Compile / develop knowledge bases on performance analysis and simulation of wireless ad hoc networks.

  • Adapt and instrument wireless test bed network for validation of network simulation results.

  • Develop and evaluate algorithms and models for network self-organization and routing in wireless ad hoc networks.

  • Develop a robust, error-resilient video coding and streaming scheme for smart sensor networks.

  • Investigate use of antenna diversity for transmission of highly compressed video.
